Anthony Edwards is responding to allegations that he impregnated a woman and attempted to give her a six-figure sum to get an abortion, writing in a statement Monday that he made comments “that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man.”

"I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man," Edwards wrote in a statement. "All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time."

Edwards appears to be responding to allegations from an Instagram model known as Paige Jordae, who accused Edwards of getting her pregnant and then wiring her $100,000 to have an abortion.

Jordae posted screenshots of an alleged text conversation with Edwards, in which messages allegedly from the 22-year-old basketball star tell her to "Get a abortion" and that he will "send you money to help you out."

Other messages allegedly from Edwards read:

  • "Just take the pills"
  • "You got da money what's the Hol up"
  • "My attorney gone handle it"

There's also a screenshot of a pending wire transfer of $100,000 on Nov. 27, 2023, though it's unclear in the image who the sender and receiver are.

Edwards is averaging 24.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists for the 19-5 Timberwolves, who are back in action Monday night against the Miami Heat.
