Anthony Edwards wants to try NFL after winning a championship with Timberwolves
Anthony Edwards hasn't ruled out becoming the first NBA-to-NFL crossover player – once he wins an NBA Championship with the Minnesota Timberwolves, that is.
A clip of a conversation between Edwards and comedian Marco Summers on his "Open Thoughts" show last month has come to wider attention this week, with Edwards not ruling out a future career in football.
Much like Michael Jordan famously switched NBA for baseball in the '90s, Summers asked Edwards if he could make a similar jump to the NFL.
"I think I might be the first one," Edwards replied.
"Are you gonna do it?" Summers asked.
"I'm gonna try," Edwards replied.
But...
"First I gotta handle my business in the NBA ... as a time, Minnesota organization, we want to win a championship. After that, we'll figure that out.
An athletic phenom, Edwards is no slouch on the football field. He was considered one of the best players in the Atlanta area Pop Warner league as a 10-year-old, playing running back, cornerback, and quarterback before ultimately settling on basketball.
Here's a video of him throwing a 40-yard bomb on his return to Atlanta last year.
