Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is set to make his national team debut at this summer's FIBA World Cup, according to a report from The Athletic's Joe Vardon and Shams Charania.

Edwards, 21, averaged career highs in points (24.6), blocks (0.7), steals (1.6), and assists per game (4.4) in 2022-23, leading to his first All-Star Game selection.

The FIBA World Cup takes place Aug. 25 to Sept. 10 in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia. Team USA has been placed in Group C with Jordan, Greece and New Zealand.

Team USA is coming off its worst performance at a World Cup, where it lost twice on the way to a seventh-place finish in 2019.

In 2021, Edwards was part of the USA select team that practiced against Team USA before the Tokyo Olympics.
