The Minnesota Timberwolves are beginning to look like a dangerous team just in time for the playoffs. After winning at Golden State on Sunday, Minnesota left Sacramento 24 hours later with another big win in a tough road environment, toppling the Kings 119-115.

Without Karl-Anthony Towns, who was held out to avoid playing a back-to-back so soon after missing 51 games with a right calf injury, the Timberwolves won behind a balanced attack in which six different players scored at least 15 points and seven players were in double figures.

  • Jaden McDaniels: 20 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals
  • Naz Reid: 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting off the bench
  • Anthony Edwards: 17 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists
  • Rudy Gobert: 16 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks
  • Mike Conley: 16 points, 3 assists
  • Kyle Anderson: 15 points, 4 rebounds, 11 assists, 2 steals
  • Jaylen Nowell: 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting off the bench

At 39-37, the Timberwolves are tied with the Warriors but because Minnesota owns the tiebreaker they are sixth in the West while the Warriors are seventh. The top six seeds qualify for the postseason while seeds 7-10 have to go through the play-in tournament.

Minnesota is one game behind the fifth place Clippers and 1.5 games behind fourth place Phoenix, which sets the stage for another huge road game Wednesday night against the Suns, who may be getting Kevin Durant back from a sprained ankle.
