Wolves suffer another 4th quarter meltdown against Spurs
The Minnesota Timberwolves found another way to lose a game they should have won on Wednesday night, blowing a 16-point lead in a 111-108 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Timberwolves set the tone early in the game thanks to the performances of D'Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards. Edwards hit a tough shot in traffic as part of a 14-point performance and Russell hit a three-pointer to help give Minnesota an early lead.

After holding onto a 33-29 lead in the first quarter, things continued in the second quarter. With the Timberwolves knocking down 13 three-pointers in the game, Minnesota built a 65-54 lead at halftime.

The Wolves shooting continued in the second half behind the performance of Malik Beasley. Beasley scored 29 points for Minnesota as its lead swelled to as many as 16 points in the third quarter.

Although the Wolves were in control, the offense ran dry in the fourth quarter. With Minnesota struggling to find a bucket, the Spurs put together a 20-2 run that gave the Spurs the lead with just over four minutes to go.
The Spurs and the Wolves went back and forth down the stretch, but it was Timberwolves nemesis DeMarr DeRozan who put up 30 points to help the Spurs pull away and hand the Timberwolves another defeat.
The Timberwolves fell to 5-16 on the season with the loss and will take the court again on Friday night in Oklahoma City.
