The only reliever the Minnesota Twins traded for before the Aug. 1 deadline was right-hander Dylan Floro, and he was roughed up in an ugly way Tuesday night as the Milwaukee Brewers dumped the Twins 7-3 in the first of a two-game border series.

Floro entered the game in the sixth inning after Bailey Ober gave the Twins five innings while allowing just two runs on two hits. Ober needed 78 pitches to get through five innings and he had set the Brewers down 1-2-3 in both the fourth and fifth innings, but manager Rocco Baldelli elected to go to the 'pen and give Floro a try.

The move blew up as six of the first seven batters singled off Floro and Minnesota's 3-2 lead turned into a 7-3 deficit before the veteran reliever got the final two outs to end the inning. But the damage was done and the Twins never recovered.

Baldelli said recently that he would proceed with caution with Ober because the right-hander had already set a career high with 113.2 innings entering his Tuesday night start in Milwaukee. But there's no denying he was cruising when Baldelli took him out of the game.

The only hits Ober allowed was a two-run homer to Willy Adames in the first inning a double by Christian Yelich in the second inning. Other than that, he scattered three walks.

Minnesota's limited offense came on a two-run homer by Christian Vazquez and an RBI single by Kyle Farmer.

Up next: Twins at Brewers, Wednesday at 1:10 p.m. CT.
