Alex Cole, who played outfield for the Minnesota Twins in 1994 and 1995, died recently at the age of 58. The Cleveland Guardians confirmed the sad news on Saturday, though details about his cause of death have not been announced.

Cole played seven seasons in Major League Baseball, including two of his final three years in the big leagues with the Twins. Cole batted .296 with four homers, five triples and 15 doubles with the Twins in 1994 and was hitting .342 in 28 games when his 1995 season ended with a broken leg.

For his career, Cole batted .280 with 493 hits, including 58 doubles, 26 triples and five home runs. He also stole 148 bases in 573 major league games.

Cole played with the Red Sox in 1996. It was his final year in the big leagues, after which he competed in the minors and other professional leagues. In 2005 he was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to sell heroin.

Cole played seven seasons in the majors: Cleveland (1990-92), Pirates (1992), Rockies (1993), Twins (1994-95) and Red Sox (1996).
