John Gant threw five shutout innings on Tuesday night as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Cleveland Indians 3-0.

The right-hander had one of his best performances as a starter on Tuesday as he held Cleveland to three hits while striking out seven batters to make things easy for the lineup.

While the Indians welcomed the return of Aaron Civale from a sprained middle finger, the Twins spoiled the party with an RBI single from Andrelton Simmons in the fifth inning.

With the Twins ahead 1-0, Brent Rooker took advantage of the Cleveland bullpen, smashing his seventh home run of the season to put Minnesota ahead 2-0.

Luis Arráez added an RBI triple in the ninth and Alexander Colomé picked up his 13th save of the season to preserve the victory.

The Twins (61-77) will go for the sweep in Cleveland on Wednesday night when Joe Ryan makes his second career start against Triston McKenzie.
