Guardians game postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak 2 days before Twins series
Major League Baseball announced that Wednesday's game between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox has been postponed due to "multiple positive COVID-19 tests" for the Guardians.
"Following multiple positive COVID-19 tests within the Cleveland Guardians organization, their afternoon road game today vs. the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field has been postponed to allow for continued testing and contact tracing. Major League Baseball will provide a rescheduling update when it becomes available."
It's the first MLB game to be postponed this season because of COVID-19.
Recently, the Twins had manager Rocco Baldelli, infielder Luis Arraez and pitcher Dylan Bundy test positive for COVID-19. But the Twins have not had to alter the game schedule because of the coronavirus.
Cleveland is scheduled for an off-day Thursday before starting a three-game series in Minnesota on Friday. As of now, all three games between the Twins and Guardians have not been impacted.
Bring Me The News has reached out to the Twins to find out if the weekend series against the Guardians could be impacted.
According to Cleveland.com, a member of the Guardians left Tuesday night's game with an illness, prompting the team's coaching staff to undergo COVID testing. Manager Terry Francona and other coaches tested positive. Cleveland.com was unaware of any players being impacted.
