Joe Ryan rocked for seven runs in loss to Cardinals
Matt Wallner's three-run home run in the top of the seventh got the Twins on the board, but it wasn't enough to overcome Joe Ryan's horrific start in the Twins' 7-3 loss Wednesday night.
Ryan gave up seven runs – including four homers – in the second and third innings as his recent struggles continued in St. Louis. The Twins starter has now given up at least four runs in four of his last five starts.
Wallner brought in Max Kepler and Kyle Farmer with his sixth home run of the season, a 431-foot shot to center field.
Donovan Solano reached base in the top of the ninth with one out but Farmer and Wallner struck out swinging to close out the Twins' sixth loss in their last seven games.
Minnesota and St. Louis finish up the three game series Thursday night with first pitch set for 6:45p.m.
