The Minnesota Twins were sparked by the return of Josh Donaldson on Wednesday night and as a result, the offense came alive in an 8-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Target Field.

The Twins got on the board early and often in the final game of the three-game set, but it was Jake Cave that scored the first run of the game with a solo shot that gave the Twins a 1-0 lead in the second.

Donaldson followed Cave's lead by driving in a pair of runs on an RBI double later in the inning to put the Twins ahead 3-0.

Although the White Sox would get a run in the top of the third inning, that's all they would get against Jose Berrios. The Twins starter allowed one run, three hits, two walks and eight strikeouts over eight innings to let the Twins' powerful lineup focus on what they do best.

Miguel Sano launched a solo home run in the bottom of the third to get that run back and the floodgates opened for the Twins offense. Cave delivered an RBI single and Luis Arraez drove in another on a fielders choice in the fifth, but the big blow came in the sixth inning when Eddie Rosario poured it on with a home run to center field for the final 8-1 score.

By taking two of three games from the White Sox, the Twins pulled within 1.5 games of the Cleveland Indians for first place in the American League Central. After an off day on Thursday, the Twins will begin a four-game series with the Detroit Tigers with a doubleheader on Friday evening.
