Josh Donaldson scores 2 millionth run in MLB history
Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson made history on Saturday afternoon, scoring the two millionth run in MLB history during the first inning of the Twins' game with the Kansas City Royals.
Donaldson got on base with a single against Ervin Santana and made his way to second on a single by Alex Kirilloff. With Donaldson in scoring position, Nelson Cruz drove in the historic run with a double down the line.
According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, MLB history dates back to 1876 where the first run in the sport's history was scored by Boston Red Stockings catcher Tim McGinley.
The one millionth run in MLB history was scored in 1975 by Houston Astros outfielder Bob Watson but is difficult to pin down due to the lack of timestamps.
For the Twins, they were just thrilled with an early lead over the Royals as they looked to even the series.
