Kirby Puckett's jersey from Game 6 of the 1991 World Series up for auction
"And we'll see you tomorrow night!" are the famous words announced by Jack Buck when Kirk Puckett hit a walk-off home run to give the Twins a win over the Braves in Game 6 fo the 1996 World Series.
The jersey Puckett wore during that legendary night is now available to anyone as Puckett's family is auctioning off more than 150 items related to the Hall of Fame outfielder's career.
The jersey from Game 6 started with a minimum bid of $7,500 and is now (as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday) reached a high bid of more than $19,450. The auction, held by Vintage Sports Authentics of Maple Grove, notes that the jersey comes with photos of authenticity and a signed letter of provenance from the Puckett family.
"The jersey shows tremendous overall game use as Kirby wore this coveted jersey throughout the 1991 regular season and post season including the All-Star Game, Game 2 of the World Series and the incredibly memorable game 6 of the World Series," the auction's description of the jersey says. "This is the holy grail for Kirby Puckett collectors and represents one of the most memorable moments in World Series history."
The auction also features also Puckett memorabilia, including a jersey he wore during the 1987 World Series and the glove he used from 1985 to 1989.
Note: Winning bidders also pay the auction house a 20% premium in addition to the final bid price for each item.
