Report: Mets want top Twins prospects for Noah Syndergaard
Buckle up, Twins fans. It might be an explosive handful of days before the 3 p.m. MLB trade deadline strikes next Wednesday. The latest rumor has the Twins and Mets linked in a deal that would send starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard to Minnesota.
According to La Velle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune, the Mets have eyes for Minnesota's top two prospects, shortstop Royce Lewis and outfielder Alex Kirilloff.
Lewis, 20, is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No.7 while Kirilloff, 21, is ranked 11th.
Trading two prospects who are regarded as some of the best in the minors would be a lot to give up, but Syndergaard, 26, is under team control through 2022 and would give the Twins a potentially dominant 1-2 punch in the starting rotation when paired with Jose Berrios.
According to SNY, the Mets are discussing trades with nearly every player on the roster, with a source telling the TV station that "that includes Noah."
Rival evaluators say they believe the Mets are fully intent on dealing Noah Syndergaard before the trade deadline. "It's beyond listening," said one. "They want to move him."

Neal added in his report that the Twins are looking to add "at least two pitchers" before the trade deadline.
Getting Syndergaard will mean outbidding a lot of competition, including the Yankees, whom MLB insider Jon Heyman says are willing to trade any prospect to get him.
