Twins acquire Sergio Romo and Chris Vallimont from Marlins

The Twins acquired two pitchers (and a player to be named later) from the Miami Marlins in reliever Sergio Romo and starting pitching prospect Chris Vallimont on Saturday.
Minnesota surrendered prospect Lewin Diaz in the deal, who was Minnesota's No. 30 prospect.
Romo has 17 saves on the season and an ERA of 3.58 to go along with 33 strikeouts in 37.2 innings. Vallimont has pitched in Single and High-A affiliated baseball this season for the Marlins and owns an ERA of 3.16 in 105.1 innings with 122 strikeouts and 37 walks between both stops.
After hearing the news, Romo say's he's excited to join the Twins. Romo is expected to join the Twins tomorrow, according to team official Dustin Morse.

The Twins could soon get some more help in the bullpen with a move for reliever Sergio Romo in the offing.
ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the Twins are "deep into talks with the Miami Marlins" on a deal bringing the 36-year-old to Target Field.
ESPN reports that Twins will also get the Marlins' High-A starter Chris Vallimont, and will send Double-A 1B Lewin Diaz to Miami.
Romo has operated as a closer for the Marlins this year, getting 17 saves at an ERA of 3.58.
He's struck out 33 batters across 37.2 innings, though his career stats are much better, with an ERA of 2.91 and a 10K/9 record.
Even this season, Romo's ERA of 3.58 is better than most of the Twins' regular relievers this year, and he currently stands at 11 scoreless innings for Miami.
He's also proved to be a clutch performer in the past, recording 3 saves during the Giants' 2012 World Series win.
One Marlins source says the deal should be completed soon. It would add a much-needed bullpen piece to the Twins, who continue to be aggressive in pursuit of help to their pitching staff.
