St. Paul Saints reveal new 'Space Jam' exhibit, set to open Friday
The St. Paul Saints are set to honor a 25-year-old movie that included a supporting turn by one of the team's co-owners.
On Friday, a brand new exhibit dedicated to Space Jam will open at the ball club's City of Baseball Museum at CHS Field, the team announced. On display will be two items Murray wore in the film.
The St. Paul Saints also point out the iconic comedian had a Saints cap on during the 1996 film, which was released four years after the team was founded.
The unveiling of the new exhibit is, in part, to "commemorate our special connection to the original movie," the Saints tweeted, and also a nod to Friday's release of Space Jam: A New Legacy. (Critics, uh, don't love it so far ... but then again the original didn't review very well either.)
Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against the Columbus Clippers will also feature this year's ball pig, Space Ham, "decked out in his Tune Squad uniform," with a "basketball-themed night," the Saints said. The team added that "a few surprises may be in store."
