The Twins are turning back to move forward by hiring former players Torii Hunter, Michael Cuddyer and LaTroy Hawkins. The very popular trio will serve as Special Assistants to Baseball Operations.

Here's what their main responsibilities will be.

Hunter

He'll help develop organizational culture and major league environment. That basically means he'll be busy with the team and operations department, including drafting, scouting, minor leagues and trade deadline preparation.

Cuddyer

The former Twins outfielder/first baseman will work in player development – specifically focusing on helping players transition to the big leagues and understand what's expected of them. Like Hunter and Hawkins, he'll also help with the draft process.

Hawkins

He'll contribute to the development of organizational pitching philosophies "used in the selection and development of all players," the Twins' statement says.

We'll have more after an afternoon conference call with Twins Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey and the trio of ex players.
