Twins activate Max Kepler from injured list, option Matt Wallner to St. Paul
Minnesota Twins outfielder Max Kepler has been activated from the injured list and is batting seventh in Saturday's game against the New York Yankees.
Kepler was on the shelf with patellar tendinitis in his right knee after leaving a game against the Miami Marlins on Apr. 3. The 30-year-old was just 2-for-16 at the plate in four games this season but was 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season before leaving with the injury.
In a corresponding move, the Twins have optioned outfielder Matt Wallner to Triple-A St. Paul. The Forest Lake native went 0-for-8 with a walk in six games with the Twins in Kepler's absence.
Kepler's return is another step toward getting the Twins' lineup to full strength. Carlos Correa returned on Thursday after missing four games with a back injury and Alex Kirilloff (wrist) and Jorge Polanco (knee) are currently on rehab assignments at Low-A Fort Myers.
With Joey Gallo working his way back from a right intercostal strain, the Twins could be on the way to full health which could bolster their 10-4 start to the season.
