Twins announce 2021 season schedule
While the Minnesota Twins ramp up for a 60-game sprint in 2020, Major League Baseball lent a sense of optimism on Thursday, announcing their schedule for the 2021 season.
Hoping the COVID-19 pandemic is a thing of the past, the Twins are slated to open next season on April 1 in an interleague matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field (formerly known as Miller Park). After a week on the road, the Twins will open at Target Field on April 8 against the Seattle Mariners.
Unlike the 2020 season, which will see the Twins exclusively square off with the American and National League Central divisions, the Twins are slated for a normal schedule. They will skip their turn facing the NL West, however, which was supposed to happen this season.
Instead, Minnesota will continue to square off with their National League counterparts. Along with a traditional "rivalry series" with the Brewers at Target Field in late August, the Twins will host the Chicago Cubs for a two-game series on August 31 and September 1.
Assuming the players and owners can put aside any potential labor disputes prior to next spring, the goal is to get back to business as usual as the Twins attempt to conquer the American League Central.
