Twins continue to adjust security policies to fight long lines
Starting at Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers, Twins attendees will need to note the latest in new security policies at Target Field.
The new policy limits attendees to “single-compartment” bags. Purses, tote bags, diaper bags and soft-sided coolers all fall under this category. Backpacks, laptop bags and duffle bags will not be permitted.
A single-compartment bag must be within the dimensions of 16x16x8 inches.
According to the announcement, eliminating bags with multiple compartments will speed up the security process and allow the facility to screen guests faster.
Facing greater attendance as the team sees increased success, the bag policy is the latest in adjusted security measures meant to tackle long lines.
Entering play Friday, the Twins rank 18th in the MLB for average home attendance, but the average of 24,915 fans is skewed because of very small crowds during the first month of the season when the weather was cold and wet and the Twins were in the beginning stages of exceeding preseason expectations.
At least 30,000 fans have filled Target Field in 11 of the Twins' past 18 home games.
As of June 11, fans are allowed to hold onto cell phones, wallets, clutches and keys as they go through security.
The Twins have a 26-14 home record going into Friday’s game.
