Minnesota Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz won an American League Silver Slugger Award on Thursday night, marking the fourth time he's won the prestigious batting award in his career.

Cruz was the offensive centerpiece for the Twins' offense in 2020, hitting .303 with 16 home runs and 33 RBI over 53 games. Although he slowed down in the second half, the 40-year-old was the most potent bat in the lineup and one of the few to pick up where they left off in 2019.

The big question for Cruz is whether he will return to Minnesota in 2021. Cruz is a free agent after his two-year deal expired and could have plenty of suitors if MLB institutes the designated hitter in the National League next season.

With the Twins still looking to break a North American sports record 18-game playoff losing streak, retaining Cruz's services should be a top priority this winter.
