Twins power to 250 home runs in win over Tigers
A night after a disappointing home loss to the Tigers, the Twins bounced back Saturday night with a 8-5 win over Detroit at Target Field.
Max Kepler was a triple shy of the cycle, starting the game with a home run and finishing 3-for-5 with his team-leading 35th homer of the season and two RBI.
But Minnesota was actually trailing 4-1 before scoring five runs in the fifth, highlighted by a three-run homer by Miguel Sano.
Sano is up to 26 homers and has slugged six long balls in his last 10 games.
Jake Cave also crushed a homer over the center-field wall, his fifth of the season and third in the last two games.
The Twins now lead the majors with 251 homers, just 16 shy of the MLB record set by the Yankees in 2018.
Game three of the series between the Twins and Tigers starts at 1:10 p.m. Sunday.
