Twins slug trio of homers to sweep White Sox in Chicago
Make it 31 games over .500 for the Twins after they swept the White Sox in a three-game series in Chicago, finishing them off with a 10-5 win Thursday afternoon.
The Twins started the game with five straight singles and never looked back.
Minnesota got homers from Jake Cave and C.J. Cron in the third inning to push their season total to 260, and Cave added another in the seventh inning to push the Twins total to within seven of breaking the MLB single-season record of 267 set by the Yankees in 2018.
Cron finished with three hits and was a triple shy of the cycle.
The Twins also got a decent from Jose Berrios for the first time in August. The 25-year-old All-Star pitched six inning and gave up three runs while striking out eight. He also chucked four wild pitches.
Cleveland blanked the Tigers 2-0 Thursday to remain 3.5 games behind the Twins in the AL Central race.
