Alan Page, daughter write children's book about 'Perpendicular Pinky'

Former Vikings great and current Minnesota Supreme Court Associate Justice Alan Page is getting into the children's publishing business for a good cause, KARE 11 reports.

Page and his daughter/speech writer, Kamie, have written the children's book "Alan and his Perfectly Pointy, Impossibly Perpendicular Pinky."

The book is in reference to the former NFL MVP and Pro Football Hall of Famer's pinky finger on his left hand, which is permanently bent outward at a 90-degree angle.

Page told KARE that the pinky has been dislocated and reset several times -- one time while on the football field -- by the defensive lineman's longtime teammate, Jim Marshall.

That's when Marshall asked Page about his "problem" during the game, and Page said he "sort of whimpered" and showed his fellow Purple People Eater his dislocated pinky.

"I gave him my hand and he yanked it back into place," Page told KARE.

Proceeds from "Alan and his Perfectly Pointy, Impossibly Perpendicular Pinky" will go to the Supreme Court justice's Page Education Foundation, which has helped thousands of students of color attend college over the past 25 years.

The book will be released on at the Page Education Foundation's 25th Anniversary Benefit Gala April 6 at Target Field.
