Patrick Peterson has been vocal about his desire to return to the Minnesota Vikings next season, and now there is some evidence that new defensive coordinator Brian Flores is interested in keeping Peterson around.

Darren Wolfson, appearing on SKOR North's Mackey & Judd this week, says he is "led to believe" that Flores and the Vikings “definitely want Peterson back.”

"I'm told he absolutely wants Patrick Peterson back," said Wolfson, who wasn't sure if Minnesota had met with Peterson's agent yet. "I'm led to believe strongly that the Vikings definitely want Patrick Peterson back."

Peterson, a free agent who can sign with any team he wants, was Minnesota's highest-rated cornerback last season, according to data from Pro Football Focus. He tied Harrison Smith for the team lead with five interceptions.

If Peterson doesn't return, the only cornerbacks who got playing time last season who are still on the roster are Cam Dantzler, Akayleb Evans and Andrew Booth Jr. Duke Shelley, who took on a huge role late in the season, is also a free agent.
