Former Viking Everson Griffen arrested for DWI in Minnesota
Former Vikings player Everson Griffen was arrested in the Twin Cities for suspected DWI on Saturday.
Carver County Jail logs show the 35-year-old defensive end was booked into jail at 12:41 p.m. and released an hour later.
He was booked on probable cause charges of driving while intoxicated in Chanhassen. It’s not clear if formal charges have yet been filed.
Griffen, who lives in Mound, Minnesota, left the Vikings in 2020 after ten years with the team, having short stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions before returning to Minnesota for one more season with the Vikings in 2021.
He has publicly struggled with his mental health, with two major episodes in Minnesota in 2018 and 2021 leading to the revelation that he has bipolar disorder, a diagnosis he went public with two years ago.
