House owned by late Vikings legend Bud Grant is for sale
Rather than the multi-million-dollar homes athletes put on the market, the house that legendary Minnesota Vikings head coach Bud Grant called home is for sale at a listing price of $699,900.
The Hall of Fame coach died at March 11 at the age of 95, with his home at 8134 Oakmere Road in Bloomington hitting the market this past week.
The home – in a suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul – was built in 1962, one year after the Vikings debuted as an NFL franchise.
It's the same home where Grant held his annual garage sale, inviting the public to explore his enormous collections of Vikings, hunting and outdoors memorabilia and gear. Grant held his final garage sale in 2017.
The home comprises four bedrooms, three and a half baths, three fireplaces and more than 4,400 square feet of living space. It's all tucked into a wooded neighborhood with a small lake nearly bordering the west side of the property. You can find photos here.
Grant, born in Superior, Wisconsin, was known for his love for the outdoors and he represented the Bold North as iconically as anyone. In 2015 when the temperature was subzero and the wind chill well into the negative 20s, the 88-year-old Grant walked onto the frozen turf at TCF Bank Stadium in a t-shirt ahead of the Vikings-Seahawks playoff game.
