An electrifying performance off the bench in his Minnesota Vikings debut earned Josh Dobbs the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The NFL announced its weekly awards Wednesday and Dobbs was named the winner after passing for 158 yards and two touchdowns while adding 66 yards and a rushing touchdown in Minnesota's come-from-behind win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Dobbs entered the game in the first quarter after Jaren Hall was knocked out of the game with a concussion. The 28-year-old who was acquired just five days earlier in a trade with the Cardinals, took a safety on his first drive and then fumbled on his second opportunity to lead the offense, but he shook off the early issues and wound up leading Minnesota to a memorable victory.

Minnesota trailed 28-24 with two minutes to play and the Vikings were facing 2nd-and-7 at their own 28-yard line when Dobbs led the game-winning touchdown drive that culminated with him finding Brandon Powell for the go-ahead touchdown with 22 seconds to go.

The victory earned him a new nickname from NASA: The Passtronaut, which is an ode to his status as a real life rocket scientist who previously interned at NASA.

Now Dobbs is preparing for his first start with the Vikings against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT.
