Justin Jefferson still not worried about contract talks
Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson remains focused on one thing after the first day of training camp: winning a Super Bowl.
When asked by reporters about practicing without a new contract, the star receiver responded, "That's not the worries that I have right now. It's really only about winning the Super Bowl. Just getting the wins and being with my team."
Jefferson is heading into the fourth year of his rookie deal that is set to pay him a base salary of $2.39 million. The Vikings have already picked up Jefferson's fifth-year option which will boost the star receiver's pay in 2024 to $19.7 million, though much bigger money is coming his way whenever he signs a new contract.
The 24-year-old's contract status has been a source of intrigue all offseason, with the general assumption that Minnesota will lock him up to a new deal that will make him the highest paid receiver in the league and perhaps the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history.
"The contract is going to play itself and I'm just out here to play football," Jefferson said.
