UPDATE: Kevin O'Connell 'encouraged about early news' on Justin Jefferson injury

Original story

Justin Jefferson's return to the Minnesota Vikings was short-lived after he walked to the locker room after taking a big hit in the second quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, and was later taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Jefferson, making his return after missing eight games with a strained hamstring, took a big shot to his back after making a catch over the middle of the field for 15 yards. The Vikings said he was questionable to return with a chest injury, only to rule him OUT in the opening moments of the second half.

Jefferson grimaced in pain and walked to the sideline before being taken into the blue medical tent. Not long after he walked with the training staff into the tunnel on the way to the locker room for further medical attention.

This is a developing story.
