Justin Jefferson unveils 5 new versions of 'The Griddy' touchdown dance
Justin Jefferson and the inventor of "The Griddy" dance have unveiled new versions of the dance that Jefferson made famous after scoring touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings.
"We bringing a new version of the Griddy this year. It's about to be a Griddy season. I want the whole stadium, worldwide to get up and Griddy with me when I get in that end zone," Jefferson said in a video released by the Vikings.
The video features Griddy creator Allen Davis teaching Jefferson the new moves at the indoor practice field at TCO Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota. There are multiple versions:
- The Jet Griddy
- The Handoff Griddy
- The Monopoly Griddy
- The Reverse Griddy
- The LeBron Griddy
The Jet Griddy is basically Jefferson doing the normal Griddy but his arms are stretched out wide like an airplane to account for Jefferson's nickname, "Jet."
The Handoff Griddy features the typical Griddy footwork but Jefferson has the option to handoff or pass to a teammate, who then resumes the dance moves.
The Monopoly Griddy includes the standard footwork but Jefferson acts like he's rolling dice.
The Reverse Griddy is again the typical footwork but Jefferson acts like he's driving a car and shifts into reverse, then going backwards with his footwork.
The LeBron Griddy includes Jefferson acting like he's shaking powder into his hands and then tossing it into the air the same way LeBron James does at the scorer's table before ever game.
"Alright, that's the new Griddy moves for the season," said Jefferson. "You gotta get Griddy with us."
