Kevin O'Connell addresses Justin Jefferson absence, Jordan Addison injury
The Vikings entered the second week of organized team activities and Justin Jefferson remains a missing piece, all while rookie first-round wide receiver Jordan Addison isn't practicing because of an unspecified injury.
Head coach Kevin O'Connell offered no specific reasons for Jefferson's absence, leaving everyone to wonder if Jefferson is avoiding the voluntary practices while he waits for a new contract that would could make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
"It's one of those things that we've had great dialogue throughout the offseason. A lot of that will stay between Justin and I," O'Connell said Tuesday.
"For me, I hope to see him as soon as possible," O'Connell added. "I think our participation among our whole team has been so good that we've been able to get great work in. Would love to have him, obviously. But I think as we work towards minicamp we'll have a real, clean cut plan of what that looks like, and hopefully get him some work, and I know a lot of the guys will be excited to see him."
The Vikings will hold mandatory mini-camp June 13-14.
Meanwhile, Addison, continues to be held out of practice due to an apparent injury.
When asked about Addison's lack of participation, O'Connell answered: "We’re being overly cautious with him right now. Something that popped up towards the end of rookie minicamp. Nothing serious at all. Kind of a day-to-day thing that we’re working through."
