Cousins had every excuse to skip the party. But he didn't.

Just over 24 hours after the Achilles tendon in his right leg snapped, Kirk Cousins was signing autographs and handing out candy at a Halloween party the Minnesota Vikings hosted Monday night.

Cousins, now expected to miss the rest of the season and awaiting surgery to repair his torn Achilles, participated in the Kids Club Halloween trick-or-treat event at the team's TCO Performance Center headquarters in Eagan.

Blair Reynolds, a Vikings fan whose nephew attended the event, tagged Kirk Cousins in a post on X (formerly Twitter) to acknowledge the quarterback's commitment to the kids.

"[Kirk Cousins] my nephew met you tonight at the Halloween party. You could have stayed away, you could have said no to an autograph. No one would have blamed you after the day you have had. Thank you for showing him that despite all the bad you can rise above it," Reynolds wrote.

Cousins was at the Halloween party getting around with the aid of a mobility scooter. Another photo from the party shows Cousins autographing a shirt for a boy. The photo was originally posted to Facebook by Brittney Speedling before it was shared on Twitter, where it has since been viewed more than 300,000 times.

Cousins will learn his surgery plans later this week. Although he's expected to miss the rest of the season, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday that Cousins is already talking about timelines for his return. The question now is if Cousins will play for the Vikings or another team since he's set to become a free agent in March.
