NFL's Top 100 plays of 2022: Vikings involved in 10
In a celebration of the 2023 NFL season kicking off in 100 days, the league's Twitter account put out a video highlighting the 100 best plays of the 2022 season. The Vikings were involved, good and bad, in ten of the plays.
The Bad
No. 93 - Saquon Barkley 28yd rushing TD (Wild Card Round)
The Giants running back broke out a 28-yard touchdown in the first round of the Wild Card round game to level the score at 7-7 in the first quarter.
No. 57 - Jalen Hurts 26yd TD Run (Week 2)
Hurts' 26 looping run down the sideline concluded with a strong push by the Philadelphia QB to get in the end zone at the end of the second quarter to put the Eagles up 21-7.
No. 54 - Curtis Samuel 49yd TD catch (Week 9)
On the second play of the second half Curtis Samuel came down with a 49-yard pass between three Vikings defenders and rolled into the touchdown. The play is more remembered for Cam Bynum being taken out by the ref just short of undercutting the jump ball.
No. 30 - Keisean Nixon 105 kick return TD (Week 17)
Moments after Greg Joseph put up the first three points in Green Bay, the Packers' kick returner Keisean Nixon went nearly untouched, up the middle on a 105-yard kick return touchdown that sparked an unanswered 41-point outburst by the Packers.
No. 16 - Darnell Mooney 39yd one-handed back shoulder catch (Week 5)
Justin Field opened up the Bears' final drive before halftime at US Bank Stadium by connecting on a 39-yard pass to Darnell Mooney. The Bears receiver jumped, turned, and made the one-handed catch with Chandon Sullivan right on him to set up an eventual 9-yard TD run to close the gap to 21-10 heading into halftime.
The Good
No. 62 - Dalvin Cook 53yd TD run @ Dolphins (Week 6)
With time creeping down in the fourth quarter the Vikings held narrow six point lead in Miami until Dalvin broke out a 53-yard touchdown run to give the Vikings breathing room.
No. 28 - Dalvin Cook 81yd TD run @ Bills (Week 10)
Down 27-10 late in the third quarter, on the road in Buffalo, the Vikings once again got quick points from Dalvin Cook on an 81-yard touchdown run .
No. 25 - Kene Nwangwu 97 kick return TD v Patriots (Week 12)
Moments after Patriots had taken a third-quarter lead Kene Nwangwu returned the kickoff for a touchdown for the third time in his career.
No. 7 - Dalvin Cook 64yd TD catch v Colts (Week 15)
Cook capped off a stunning 36-point second half comeback with a 64-yard touchdown run to level the game 36-36 with just 2:15 left in the game.
No. 4 - THAT Justin Jefferson catch @ Bills (Week 10)
With just two minutes left in the game the Vikings were down 27-23 against the Bills and facing a 4th-18 on their own 27 yard line. In very un-Kirk Cousins fashion, Kirk threw into triple coverage and Justin Jefferson rewarded him with one of the greatest one-handed catches in team history, taking the ball out of the hands of a Bills defender.
