Police: Wisconsin Vikings fan stabbed several times over yard display

Police say a Wisconsin Vikings fan was stabbed over a display in his yard.

Police in Stoughton, Wisconsin – which is just southeast of Madison – say a Vikings fan living amongst the green and gold was stabbed multiple times over a Vikings display he had in his yard.

According to the police department, the incident happened Sunday around 7:15 p.m.

Police were called to the 700 Block of S. VanBuren Street and found a 36-year-old man with multiple lacerations.

The victim told WISC-TV he went outside of his home to find another man "slicing" up an inflatable Vikings display in his yard.

So the man confronted the 21-year-old vandal.

That's when the 21-year-old apparently cut the 36-year-old with a "box cutter type knife."

The Forum says the Vikings fan was cut seven times.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. And the suspect was arrested at the scene and booked on charges of first degree reckless endangerment and criminal damage to property, police say.

That hasn't damaged the Vikings fan's pride, though.

He tells WISC-TV his inflatable display "is going to get a little piece of Vikings duct tape put on there and it's going to be blown up every day of the week from now on."

A Vikings spokesman told GoMN the team has invited the victim to join them at a practice and attend the Vikings-Cardinals game on Nov. 20 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The incident is still under investigation.
