Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook reportedly underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a shoulder injury that has hampered him since 2019.

According to ESPN's Adam Scheftter, Cook broke his shoulder in 2019. The shoulder injury has popped up in painful fashion numerous times over the past few seasons, knocking him out of games early and keeping him sidelined for brief stints.

Cook missed two games in 2019 and two more in 2020, and then three games in 2021. He played in all 17 games this season but had to leave the game against Detroit in Week 3 early after aggravating his shoulder on a play that resulted in a fumble.

He finished the 2022 season with 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns.

A timeline for his recovery has not been announced.

Cook carries a $14.1 million cap hit in 2023, making him one of the most expensive running backs in the NFL.
