Kareem Hunt's tour around the NFL as a free agent running back continued in Minnesota Friday as the former Rookie of the Year visited the Vikings, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Minnesota's running back situation is set at the top with Alexander Mattison becoming the bell cow back. Behind him is a battle between Ty Chandler and perhaps Kene Nwangwu, while DeWayne McBride and Abram Smith are fighting for depth roles.

Hunt, who turned 28 earlier this week, is entering his seventh season in the NFL. He was Nick Chubb's backup in Cleveland the past four seasons and averaged just 38 rushing yards per game while battling injuries.

But in 17 games last season, Hunt averaged a career-worst 3.8 yards per carry while Chubb averaged 5.0 yards per carry behind the same offensive line.

Where Hunt has continued to excel is in the passing game. He had 35 receptions for 210 yards and a touchdown last season. The 2021 season can be wiped off the slate due to injuries, while he had 38 catches for 304 yard and five receiving touchdowns in 2020.

Chandler rushed 11 times for 41 yards and caught four passes for 29 yards in Minnesota's preseason opener against the Seahawks Thursday night. Nwangwu missed the game because of an injury.

Hunt has made recent visits to New Orleans and Indianapolis and left each city without a deal.
