Justin Jefferson to go on injured reserve, will miss at least 4 Vikings games
The Minnesota Vikings are set to place Justin Jefferson on injured reserve, meaning he'll miss at least the next four games after injuring his hamstring during Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
NFL.com's Tom Pelissero broke the news Tuesday morning, citing sources who says that the timeline for Jefferson's return remains unknown as it's "based on how he responds to treatment."
ESPN's Kevin Seifert meanwhile describes Jefferson's hamstring injury as "significant," saying there's "no guarantee he is back in 4 games."
The games Jefferson will definitely miss are:
- Oct. 15: @ Chicago Bears
- Oct. 23: v. San Francisco 49ers (Monday Night Football)
- Oct. 29: @ Green Bay Packers
- Nov. 5: @ Atlanta Falcons.
The news is a huge blow to head coach Kevin O'Connell's hopes to turn the season around after a 1-4 start, with Jefferson catching for 571 yards and three touchdowns in those five games.
It will also mean a larger role in the offense for the likes of tight end T.J. Hockenson and rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison, who caught a touchdown against the Chiefs' on Sunday.
