Report: Vikings losing linebacker Troy Dye to Chargers
Dye had 17 tackles last season.
Former Vikings linebacker Troy Dye is signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The Vikings wanted to keep Dye, 27, per Rapoport, but he will have a better chance to have a more established role in the defense with the Chargers.
Dye, who’s spent the first four years of his career with the Vikings, has primarily played on special teams.
He has, however, gotten limited action in on defense, and the Vikings’ desire to bring him back shows the promise the team does see in him.
Last season, Dye had just 17 tackles but did also produce a sack and a forced fumble.
Dye will now get his chance to be a more regular contributor with the Chargers.
