Vikings sign cornerback Shaq Griffin
The Vikings continue to add pieces on defense.
According to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz,former Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans cornerback Shaq Griffin is signing with the Vikings on a one-year, $6 million deal.
Griffin had 39 tackles, one interception and four pass break-ups for Houston and Carolina in 2023. He played the first 10 games of the season with the Texans before being released in late November, Griffin appeared in three games for Carolina.
The 28-year-old corner had a 67.0 coverage grade last season.
The Seahawks selected Griffin in the third round of the 2017 draft. In Seattle, Griffin had six interceptions in four seasons before he signed with Jacksonville in free agency in 2021.
The Vikings have now added six new players on the defensive side of the ball. Minnesota's defense ranked 14th in points allowed and 17th in yards allowed in 2023, significant improvements on one of the league's worst units in 2022.
