Vegas has high expectations for Vikings rookie Cook
According to Bovada, the newest member of the Minnesota backfield has been awarded with the fourth-best odds to win offensive rookie of the year in 2017.
Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey and DeShaun Watson, are the only rookies with better odds than Dalvin Cook. They were all selected in the top 12 of the first round. Cook didn't come off the board until pick 41.
The high expectations for Cook came as no surprise to his former head coach at Florida State, Jimbo Fisher.
“I’m going to be honest with you, you go back and (look at) how many long dynamic (touchdown) runs this guy had,” Fisher said, via Vikings.com. “I’ve coached a lot of great backs, Devonta Freeman, who’s an All-Pro in the league right now playing as well as anybody in the NFL, Devonta was a phenomenal player. But Dalvin was more dynamic because of the home run speed, and from that standpoint, I haven’t coached against a back or coached a back that was so dynamic that every time he touched the ball, he could score a (touchdown).”
Even ESPN's colorful commentator, Dick Vitale, who is a massive Seminoles fan, chimed in on the Vikings dynamic rookie.
“He’s definitely a PTPer," Vitale told the Pioneer Press, "He’s got a chance to be a prime-time performer. He could be a diaper dandy as an NFL rookie.”
The Vikings will get their first look at Cook when they open up their mini-camp Friday.
