Vikings add ex-Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers to coaching staff
Former NFL head coach and longtime Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers has joined the Mike Zimmer's coaching staff in Minnesota.
Capers, entering his 33rd season as an NFL coach, will work as the Vikings' senior defensive assistant. He held the same job title with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, but is better known in the NFC North as the Packers' defensive coordinator from 2009 to 2017.
With Zimmer leading the defense and calling the plays, Capers will undoubtedly serve as a veteran defensive mind to assist Zimmer and the team's co-defensive coordinators, Adam Zimmer and Andre Patterson.
Adam Zimmer and Patterson were given the co-defensive coordinator roles after George Edwards' contract was renewed following the 2019 season.

Capers also has two stints as a head coach, from 1995-98 with the Carolina Panthers and more recently (2001-05) with the Houston Texans. He's also been the defensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1992-94), Jaguars (1999-2000) and the Miami Dolphins (2006-07).
