Vikings fan fever sees SKOR North book concert venue for its NFL Draft Party
SKOR North, the radio station-turned-podcast service responsible for shows including Purple Daily and Minnesota Sports with Mackey & Judd, is moving into bigger digs for its third annual Vikings NFL draft party.
The station announced on Monday that its 2024 Purple Daily Draft Party will be held at The Fillmore, the 1,315-capacity venue near Target Field in the Minneapolis North Loop.
The draft party outgrew last year's venue, The Park Tavern, with SKOR North producer Declan Goff telling Bring Me The Sports demand was so high that fans were lining up outside the venue. The station's inaugural draft party in 2022 was hosted at Surly Brewing.
Led by a host team of Judd Zulgad, Phil Mackey and Goff, SKOR North launched in 2019 and then became podcast/YouTube-first station when Hubbard Broadcasting made cuts to its AM channel 1500 ESPN in 2020 – though a "best of" show continues to broadcast on 1500-AM in the Twin Cities on weekdays.
The Purple Daily Draft Party 2024 will be held for the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday, Apr. 25, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the draft starting at 7 p.m. The Minnesota Vikings hold the 11th pick, and interest in the draft is expected to be intense with the Vikings possibly selecting a quarterback.
Admission to the party is free, but people will need to register. Mackey also tells Bring Me The Sports there will be a paid VIP option for a small number in attendance, with more details released in the coming weeks.
You can find all of SKOR North's content on podcast platforms and on YouTube, where Purple Daily has amassed a following of 43,000 subscribers and consistently charts as one of the top national football podcasts on Apple.
Expect the Minnesota Vikings to soon announce details of its own draft party, which typically takes place at U.S. Bank Stadium.
