Vikings hire MLB executive as new chief operating officer
Kevin Warren's impending departure as chief operating officer of the Minnesota Vikings has allowed the team to conduct a thorough search for a new COO, and that person has been found.
The Vikings announced Monday that Andrew Miller, the vice president of business operations with the Toronto Blue Jays, has been hired to replace Warren, who will become commissioner of the Big Ten Conference this fall.
Miller will begin with the Vikings Sept. 1.
"Andrew is a first class individual, known for his integrity, strong business acumen, and collaborative approach,” Vikings co-owner and president Mark Wilf said in a statement.
Prior to spending the last four years with the Blue Jays, Miller was employed by the Cleveland Indians for a decade, working as an assistant to the team president and later being promoted to senior vice president of strategy and business analytics.
“I am excited to be a part of the Vikings organization and positively impact our fans, who are among the most passionate in all sports," said Miller in a statement. "My family and I look forward to immersing ourselves in the state of Minnesota.”
Miller and his wife, Jill, are expecting their third child.
Warren, 55, is leaving his position with the Vikings as the highest-ranking black executive in the NFL, but he's now the first black commissioner of a power conference (Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Pac-12, Big 12).
