Justin Jefferson told a young boy on Tuesday that he will play Saturday against the Bengals, but the Minnesota Vikings’ official injury report on Thursday lists Jefferson as questionable for the noon kickoff.

Jefferson suffered a chest injury that knocked him out of last week’s game in Vegas and led him to a hospital in an ambulance as a precaution to make sure he didn’t suffer internal injuries.

Meanwhile, the Vikings have ruled out starting right tackle Brian O’Neill, running back Alexander Mattison and wide receiver Jalen Nailor. O’Neill and Mattison are dealing with ankle injuries and Nailor is in concussion protocol.

“They’re all trending in the right direction,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said Thursday. “Hopefully be able to get them some work next week in anticipation of maybe having them.”

Guard Chris Reed is also questionable.

Left guard Dalton Risner, who tweaked his ankle against the Raiders, does not have an injury designation and will play Saturday.
