Vikings play ugly in 38-7 loss to Seattle
An offense that wasn't clicking, a huge number of penalties and a defense that couldn't stop Russell Wilson all added up to an embarrassing 38-7 Vikings loss to the Seattle Seahawks Sunday afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had a subpar performance, going 17-of-28 for 118 yards, while the Seattle defense held Adrian Peterson in check for the entire game. He ran for only 18 yards on eight carries, according to the Star Tribune.
The Vikings had just 125 total yards of offense, compared to 433 for the Seahawks behind quarterback Russell Wilson's 274 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran in for a fourth TD.
The game was so well in hand for Seattle that Wilson was replaced by former Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson with less than five minutes left in the game.
Minnesota's defensive effort was hampered by injuries. Starters Linval Joseph and Andrew Sendejo were sidelined from the start, but Harrison Smith and Andrew Barr both got hurt in the first quarter and left the game, the Star Tribune notes.
Bottom line, Seattle took the Vikings behind the old woodshed and showed them what it takes to be a championship type team

The only Minnesota score came in the fourth quarter when Corderrelle Patterson returned a kickoff 101 yards for a late touchdown.

Many Vikings players had similar thoughts – that they simply were outplayed by Seattle.

The Vikings move to 8-4 on the season along with the Packers, who are technically in first place in the NFC North because of their victory over the Vikings a few weeks ago.
Minnesota has a short week as the team will travel to face the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night.
