Vikings add depth to secondary by signing Bashaud Breeland
The Minnesota Vikings added depth to their secondary on Friday afternoon by signing cornerback Bashaud Breeland. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that Breeland will sign a one-year deal worth up to $4 million after incentives.

Speaking to ESPN's Josina Anderson, Breeland said he decided to sign with the Vikings to return to the NFC North, play under Mike Zimmer and play with free-agent signing Patrick Peterson.

Breeland will have a chance to mentor some of the younger corners on the Vikings roster with seven years of NFL experience. A fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Breeland has played in 96 games during his career with stops in Washington, Green Bay and Kansas City.
Last season with the Chiefs, Breeland made 38 total tackles, two interceptions and nine pass deflections in 11 games.
Breeland's signing gives the Vikings plenty of options moving forward as he could slide in as a starter across from Patrick Peterson or an insurance piece for Cameron Dantzler's late-season breakout. With Jeff Gladney's status in doubt for the 2021 season, Breeland will join Mackensie Alexander, Kris Boyd and Harrison Hand as part of a revamped secondary.
