Throwback jerseys are gold in Minnesota. Hockey fans gush with joy when the Minnesota Wild wear the North Stars-inspired colors; Timberwolves fans are in love with the 1989 throwbacks the team has worn multiple times this season; and Vikings have long begged the team to wear classic uniforms.

Vikings fans will be pleased to know that the throwback uniforms inspired by the Purple People Eaters of the 1960s and '70s will be worn when the Vikings host the Chicago Bears on Monday, Nov. 27. Minnesota wore them in the season opener against the Buccaneers but have kept them in mothballs since.

Meanwhile, there's growing speculation that the Vikings will again host a "white-out" game when the Detroit Lions come to town for a game on Christmas Eve.

Team officials have not announced plans, but if it happens it would be an encore to last season's Dec. 24 "Winter Whiteout" game against the New York Giants. The Vikings wore all-white uniforms and pained the end zones and logo at midfield white, while encouraging fans to dress in white.
