Watch: Stadium video of Adrian Peterson getting standing ovation from Vikings fans
Adrian Peterson racked up more than 100 yards from scrimmage on just 16 touches in Washington's 19-9 loss to the Vikings on Thursday night, but aside from flashing football greatness he also flashed a smile to Vikings fans who gave him a raucous standing ovation during a timeout in the fourth quarter.
The ovation came when the Vikings announced on the video board that Peterson had surpassed LaDainian Tomlinson for sixth place on the NFL's all-time rushing list.
If you watched on TV you only got a glimpse of the moment, but the Vikings have since released raw stadium video that reveals the roar of the crowd during the moment that Peterson says almost made him cry.
"Just coming back and seeing the love that they still have for me and they showed, man, it felt good," Peterson said, via Sports Illustrated. "It was definitely a great home welcome. They welcomed me with open arms and just showed the love that they have and they had for over a decade. So it was a special moment. I had to hold tears back, to be honest with you."
And if you missed the game and didn't see Peterson's classic jump cut, here you go.
He might be old in the football world, but the 34-year-old can still move pretty well. Not bad considering he was just four days removed from a sprained ankle.
