Fox Sports North adds Gigi Marvin to Wild broadcast team
One of the most decorated hockey players in Minnesota history has been named as the newest hire to Fox Sports North's Minnesota Wild broadcast team.
Gigi Marvin will make her debut as a Wild analyst for FSN on Mar. 14, with the station announcing her hire to coincide with the start of Gender Equality Month in the NHL.
She is a legend of Minnesota hockey. A native of Warroad, she was a prep star for Warroad High and was named Ms. Hockey in 2005.
She went on to become a great for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, scoring 195 career points – the 6th most on record – before embarking on a professional career.
A winner of three Olympic medals for Team USA – including gold in 2018 – as well as five world championship golds, Marvin remains on the NWHL squad for the Boston Pride, having previously played for the Boston Blades in the Canadian WHL, and played a season in 2010-11 for the Minnesota Whitecaps.
"I was that kid who before school would watch SportsCenter and watch Linda Cohn, Dan Patrick, Stuart Scott ... so I really have a passion for broadcasting so I'm excited to come back home and be a part of the broadcasting team," she told host Audra Martin Monday evening.
"I have been watching the Wild forever," Marvin continued, noting how she and her family would go and watch Zach Parise play when he was at college in North Dakota.
